Shalom ya’ll. Time has gone by faster than a fat kid running
after the ice cream truck selling Magnum Bars on a hot summer day. Some might say I am the world’s
worst blogger but I say most of you probably didn’t even expect to see me throw
as many posts up as I already have so I look at it as a successful work in
progress. Anyway just thought I would give a quick shout out to everyone out
there who checks out my blog and normally finds nothing new until today.
My experience here has been a life changing one fo sho. I
can’t believe we only have a month left here in this amazing place! The past
few weeks have been filled with awesome field trips, warm weather and snow,
Sabbath strolls through the Old City, late night steamrolling, more ruins than
you ever thought existed and who knows what else. Here are just a few of the
places we have been to and some of the things we have done: the City of David,
the Separation Wall, participating in a Jewish Synagogue service, holding a
traditional Passover Seder Meal, visiting the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum,
movie trip to see The Vow to find out movie theaters here have assigned
seating, talent shows, rap sessions, Bethlehem and a number of other churches
and holy sites throughout the city. The highlight so far was definitely last
week’s trip to Turkey. It was an awesome week filled with a lot of cool
historical sites including Troy, Ephesus and Assos to name a few. A lot of
these places are mentioned in the Bible and were visited by many of the
apostles especially Paul in his missionary journeys. Three best parts of
Turkey: 1- New beginnings with Kyle Delos Miller 2- feeding the seagulls 3-
pushing potatoes.
From all of the things we have been involved with, seen,
visited and been taught one of the main things that I have learned is how
similar all of us throughout the world really are. Sure we might speak and have
different languages, looks and cultures but we are all the same in the sense
that everyone no matter where you live is striving to live life the best they
can. People everywhere are going about their daily tasks working to provide for
their families and going to school to learn. Parents everywhere are trying to
give their children a better life than they had. From all the experiences that
I have had and through the wonderful people that I have met and grown to love I
have gained a greater appreciation and understanding that we are all really
children of God. We all find ourselves at different points in our lives but one
thing is sure God loves us all and his plan is for everyone.
Anyway enough of this sentimental stuff. Here is what
everyone really wants to see, a massive potpourri of pictures from the past few
weeks so enjoy! Hope that this finds everyone well and loving life!
